About Me
Hi, I’m Dallas. I am a Medically Retired Navy Veteran and I have been oil painting for 5 years now. I am married to my wife and soulmate Ariel and we have three amazing children together. I was born and raised in Montana and then moved to Wisconsin when I was 11 years old.
Military Service: I joined the Navy when I was 20 years old and served as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate for 7 years. I was a Nuclear Instructor at NPTU Charleston after 2 years of training and taught for 4 years until I was stationed on the USS Nimitz, and then IMF Bangor, WA until I was medically discharged. Since then I have been focusing on my family, my health, oil painting and creating music.
Oil Painting: I was initially inspired to oil paint after watching many episodes of “Bob Ross: The Joy Of Painting” and started on my journey to find my own style. After many happy accidents (Bob Ross reference in case you didn’t know) and over 100 paintings, I have found and honed my unique style which is a blend of Realism and Impressionism.
Media Spotlight: In 2021, I was selected as one of the ten Featured Artists by the Veterans Art Institute, directed by an amazing woman named Kathleen Ellertson. Kathleen has helped me and other Artists by promoting our work to prospective Commercial buyers. Thanks to her, one of my paintings was sold to General Dynamics and is now being displayed in one of their brand new buildings located in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is because of that sale that I have gained the confidence to take my artwork seriously and create a website for my work. I hope to continue painting throughout the rest of my life because it is something I enjoy and it brings joy to others.
